Dear Delegates,
Welcome to the 21st session of WorldMUN! I am thrilled to be your Chair this year and cannot wait to work with you guys. As you may know, Third Party Actors (TPA) is one of the newer committees that WorldMUN has launched in the recent years. But despite this fact, it has become known as one of the most innovative and dynamic committees. Third Party Actors combines Press Corps, Non-Governmental Organizations, and Goodwill Ambassadors all into one. This year we have plans of expanding TPA to combine new elements and new ideas never seen before at WorldMUN conferences. I hope you’re as excited as I am because WorldMUN at Vancouver is going to be a blast.
But before then, I want to give a little introduction about myself. My name is Grace Yu Qi and I am a rising sophomore at Harvard University. I was born in Fuzhou, China and moved to California when I was 5. Growing up, I was an avid NBA follower and played all kinds of sports. I dabbled in basketball, martial arts, and even marksmanship. In high school, I was actively involved with many engineering projects and science teams. On the side note, I am also a self-proclaimed food connoisseur who hopes to be an international food critic so she can eat for a living. So if you ever find her gobbling up the hors d’oeuvres, she’s obviously only trying to expand her knowledge about food.
My passion for international relations and government wasn’t fully realized until I came to Harvard and joined Model United Nations. I am currently a director for both HMUN (the high school conference) and HNMUN (the college conference). At Harvard, I am planning to concentrate in either Applied Mathematics or Statistics with a possible secondary field in Computer Science. I also plan to perfect a foreign language (not quite sure which one yet) during my four years of undergraduate studies. While I’m not involved with HMUN, I can be found working at Harvard Student Agencies and dancing with the Asian American Dance Troupe.
Before the conference, I encourage you to familiarize themselves with the person or organization you are representing. The study guide that will be released is meant to serve as a springboard to your own research. While the study guide contains substantial information about the topics, please do not feel limited by the content of the guides. Third Party Actors is known for its creativity; so surprise me with your knowledge.
In the meantime, don’t hesitate to email me with any questions or concerns that you may have. I would love to hear from you before the conference officially begins. I hope you’re excited for WorldMUN 2012 because I definitely am! I can’t wait to meet all of you in session!
Best regards,
Grace Yu Qi

Third Party Actors (TPA) is a dynamic, fast-paced committee that has the potential of changing the course of all other committees. Third Party Actors is comprised of three main groups (Non-Governmental Organizations, Press Corps, and Goodwill Ambassadors) and will serve to enhance committee discussion by helping or hindering debate. Third Party Actors have wide range of flexibility in terms of creativity and what they can do. Delegates will be challenged to come up with new ways of influencing committee resolutions. Non-Governmental Organizations will no longer be tied to Economic and Social Council but also will have the freedom to influence delegate’s decisions in Specialized Agencies and General Assembly. Press Corps will help expose government corruption and help transmit information to the general public. Finally, Goodwill Ambassadors will use their fame and knowledge to influence others to action on problems that plague the world today. All in all, Third Party will play an important role in shaping the direction WorldMUN 2012 goes.
